DigiNøltar Announces the .hack TLD for BornHack 2026

DigiNøltar is pleased to announce the introduction of the .hack top-level domain in celebration of BornHack 2026.

The namespace has been established to recognize the continued importance of hackers, makers, infrastructure operators, and those who insist on running their own DNS.

Availability

The .hack TLD will be available for the duration of BornHack through the DigiNøltar registry.

Participants wishing to obtain a .hack domain may do so using the standard DigiNøltar service portal on the right. As with all DigiNøltar-operated namespaces, delegation is performed on a best-effort basis and is generally completed before anyone asks whether it has propagated.

Intended Use

The .hack namespace is suitable for, but not limited to:

• Personal websites
• Camp infrastructure
• Experimental services
• Documentation that should probably have been a README
• Projects expected to outlive the event by at least several hours

DigiNøltar places no additional restrictions on the namespace beyond basic operational requirements and reasonable DNS hygiene.

Operational Duration

The .hack TLD is intended as a commemorative namespace for BornHack 2026.

Should it prove unexpectedly useful, DigiNøltar reserves the right to continue operating it indefinitely. This determination will be made using the established criterion of "seeing how it goes."
